TEXT: The American Nation; Beginnings Through 1877
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To understand and analyze how events throughout the history of America have shaped the world in which we live today.
To always compare the past with the present in terms of technology, the standard of living, foreign policy, politics, entertainment, and everyday lives.
To make connections with the currents events taking place in our country and the world.
SUCCESS IN CLASS:Read all assignments thoroughly; take brief notes from your reading as needed.
Participate in class; be prepared to ask and answer questions.
Take good notes! (they should make sense to you) You are responsible to get notes if you missed due to absence - see a classmate.
Review your notes periodically for retention.
Complete your homework ON TIME carefully and precisely!
Set high expectations for yourself and always try to meet them!

Be prepared (come to class with homework ready, textbook, writing utensil, binder, etc.)

F 59% or lessLate Assignments - Any work turned in after the due date will receive ½ credit. A deadline for all late work will be determined for grading purposes. Individual circumstances will be handled at my discretion.
MAKE UP WORK:
You are responsible for all work that you miss. Communicate with me and your classmates. It is not my job to seek you about make up work.Make up work should be done ASAP.
If you know you will be absent on a certain day, let me know in advance to get your assignments.
EXTRA CREDIT:
* Current Events:
1) Read any news article, cut it out of the paper or print it off the internet, write a paragraph summary (4 to 5 sentences) of the article, and staple it to the article.
2) Must turn in 5 articles with summaries by end of quarter. 5, no less, no more.
3) Receive a one grade level boost. Example: C = C+ B+ = A-
