  • Computer Essentials

    Skills you will use and never lose!  This course provides an understanding of the AHS computer system and introduces appropriate formatting of personal and school documents by developing proficiencies in word processing.  Keyboarding technique will also be reinforced throughout the course.  This is a “must have” class, allowing students to transfer essential computer skills to other academic areas.  Learn these skills now to save time and improved grades in high school and college coursework with fast and accurate computer output.  Upon successful completion of this course, students may earn Tech Prep College Credit: ADMS 1202 or BUSM 1207.


    Computer Essentials II

    Take your skills to the next level.  You will refine your keyboarding skills and develop skills that you can use in business and real-life situations. Along with advanced Word applications, you will be introduced to spreadsheet, database and presentation applications.


    Money and Investing

    Have you ever wondered what it would take to have a million dollars by the time you retire?  This course expands the content learned in Careers/Consumerism. Students will research and analyze stocks, bonds, real estate, life insurance, IRA and 401K plans, and other investment alternatives. Upon successful completion of this course, students may earn Tech Prep College Credit:  CRFN 1200.


    Web Page Design

    As the Internet becomes increasingly popular, so does the need for website skills.  This course will teach website development, design and management, as well as covering ethics and browsers.  Topics will include Macromedia DreamWeaver, HTML and multimedia websites. 


    Multimedia

    Students will learn to use multimedia tools (i.e. digital cameras and scanner) and software. Software introduced will be: Super Goo, Paint, Flash, Movie Maker and Audacity.


    Careers/Consumerism

    It is important that students understand both themselves and the field of careers so that they can begin to plan for their employment. This course will allow students to assess their interests and abilities. Along with researching yourself and jobs, it is critical to know what to do with the money you earn. Through this course, students will learn practical, valuable information they can use as young people working and living in today's economy.


    Accounting

    Business activities touch the lives of everyone.  Students will begin their study with the basic accounting cycle using double entry accounting principles and proceed to more complex activities.  Upon successful completion of this course, students may earn Tech Prep College Credit:  ACCT 1215 or SAMG 1250
